City: Chanhassan, MN
Fundraising Goal: $10,000.00
Distance Goal: 20 miles (handcycle!)
Race Goal Time: 2:30:00

"For the past five years since my spinal cord injury on September 27, 2014, a group of friends, family and supporters have taken part in the Chicago Half Marathon on this very weekend. The event inspired an annual fundraiser which has grown to support U2FP’s initiatives each of the past three summers. Our enthusiastic group, known as Team JandyStrong, will look to raise funds and awareness in new ways this September.

"In addition, I will be aiming to set a personal distance record by handcycling 20 miles with the adaptive tandem trike that I’ve used to complete the Chicago Half Marathon the last two years."

Fun Facts

  • What do you crave after a long run? An ice cold beer
  • Do you listen to anything while training? On the trails, no. On my stationary bike, yes, usually hip-hop, dance, something upbeat.
  • Tell us something unique or interesting about you?: The adaptive tandem handcycle began as a senior design project during my last semester studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2018.
  • What makes you nervous or excited about the Virtual Run-Walk-Roll?: Setting a new PR and finding the right route for it in the Twin Cities.
