In the summer of 2012 I suffered a C-5/C-6 spinal cord injury after a diving accident. Since then I have worked to promote the importance of fitness and to help bring to fruition a therapy that can restore function to the SCI community. I also know a few of the peeps at U2FP; they’re good people. This will be my first marathon, on wheels or otherwise. I have never pushed more than 5 miles. As we know, spinal cord injured bodies are quite unreliable, so I am nervous that, even after a lot of training, on the day of the race my dumb body does something dumb which forces me to not participate. Hence why we really should find a means to fix this SCI thing.
Fun Facts: While traning yesterday I tuned into Google music’s “pop jams to pump you up”. And I’m not ashamed of that. Also, I have technically won an Academy award.
