Five years ago I was hired to become a “paralysis recovery specialist” at a Project Walk. I had no idea at the time about the community it would introduce me to and the path it would lead me on. That position lasted three months, until the place shut down. Then, I opened my own gym with a few yoga mats and a few individuals with SCI who wanted to continue training. We now have an amazing community, and one wicked cool gym full of SCI advocates.

The work U2FP is doing gets me excited! U2FP is leading a very important charge. Their work is educating, invigorating and uniting the SCI community. U2FP is also growing a team of states that have passed millions of dollars of funding for SCI research, specifically in regards to functional restoration. They are getting stuff done. Nobody else is doing what U2FP is doing and it must be supported.

I’m thrilled and honored to be a part of the U2FP Marathon team!

Fun Facts:
- This will be my first and last marathon.
- After training I could eat pizza, tacos, ice cream, pancakes, eggs, and bacon, in that order or otherwise.
- I’ve had a theory that a healthy CrossFit athlete could run a marathon without training for one in the traditional sense. It’s time to test that. I likely won’t run more than 12 miles prior to the marathon.

City: Excelsior, MN
Profession: Gym Owner/Trainer
Fundraising Goal: $5,000
Race Goal: The marathon... It’s going to hurt, bad. But, my crew pushes through shitty situations every damn day, so why can’t I run 26.2 miles? Sub 4:30 goal.

ABOUT 2019 Chicago Marathon: Team U2FP

Unite 2 Fight Paralysis is proud to be an official charity team for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon in 2019. Team U2FP is a group of passionate, hard working runners and wheelchair racers committed to racing the 26.2 miles and fundraising to advance research towards a cure for spinal cord injury.

The team raised over $125,000 in the past few years. All funds directly support our mission: to cure paralysis through advocacy, education, and support for research. Thank you for your support!
